Web Abstract
Analyses, design and fabrication of small scale prototypical hybrid (latent and sensible) thermal storage systems for mid to high temperature range of (200-500 °C) based on the following technology concepts a.) PCM encapsulation, b.) encapsulated/unencapsulated nanoparticle based molten salt thermocline and c.) PCM-graphite blocks. Test the projected efficiencies (80-90 %) and system level performance of the three individual technologies. In particular we will look into the nanoparticle based molten salt thermocline technology concept that has the potential to be a game changer in terms of space, efficiency and high temperature storage.
